Stray dog left to die from killer heart condition is saved by kind rescue centre volunteers – and finds new home too

A rescue dog doomed to die was saved by a £3,000 emergency op – and has been given a new home.

Poodle terrier cross Molly was born with patent ductus arteriosus, a hole in the heart condition which kills 50 per cent of sufferers if left untreated.

The seven-year-old pooch was taken in by Cumbria’s Eden Animal Rescue in May after being found abandoned.

Volunteers at the centre, near Appleby, frantically raised £1,000 towards the cost of the live-saving op – then Support Adoption For Pets, the largest backer of pet rescue centres in the UK, donated the remaining £2,000.
